My goal in this project was to create realistic fires for games by creating my own simulations and textures then implement them in the engine. After taking a VFX course at FutureGames, I decided this is the area I want to specialize in. I have not worked with VFX before that much which is the main challenge for me to face my fears and dive into this and learn as much as I can.
I used Houdini to do the simulations by creating Pryo setups, looping the simulation, how to set up the shader, and then rendering the texture to be used in the game engine. Then I used Unreal Engine 4's Niagara system to create the fire effects in real-time.
A special thanks to Mustafa Alobaidi from Avalance Studios who mentored me during this process.
